Articles for Moms > Small Changes Can Enhance Sales

Just a few minor changes to ad copy, tactics or business techniques can be enough to boost sales without burdening your budget. To modify your sales approach, choose one or more ideas from this list.

1. Reward web site visitors and create good will through discounts or gifts. Remember, though, provide good value if you want to see results.

2. Before rolling out your product, test it thorougly to eliminate problems that will annoy buyers, instigate refunds and tarnish your business. In exchange for feedback, you might offer free products to a select group of customers or post an offer to web site visitors.

3. Bonuses, limited quantities and deadlines are all tools that can enhance the value of your product. Find whatever reason you can to encourage customers to buy now rather than think about returning later. Once they leave your site, they have plenty of distractions to keep them from returning.

4. Ensure that you know and can clearly explain your USP -- unique selling proposition. You must show why your product is different from what the competition offers. Remember, price is only one factor in purchasing decisions. Uniqueness and perceived value are critical selling features.

5. Take a product aimed at a large market and focus on smaller niches. If you're selling an accounting program, for example, tailor it and your ad copy for market segments like medical, real estate and restaurants.

6. Dangle a surprise bonus in your ad copy to pique the readers interest. Then over deliver by giving two valuable bonuses. You'll have a satisfied customer and someone who may recommend you to others so they can also share in the bonuses.

7. Combine your product with others to create a new package that will sell for a limited time only or in limited numbers. This way you produce both urgency and uniqueness.

8. Expand the scope of your web site to meet more visitor needs. If you are offering a service, why not make relevant books or courses available as well?

9. Devote part of your site to free ad space for a select group of corporations that can enhance your credibility merely by their presence.

10. Use vivid imagery in your advertising copy to create strong emotional impact. Forecast the future for someone using your product, showing the impact after six months or a year. Powerful language that shows how needs will be met is a dynamic sales tool.
