Choosing a Direct Sales/Business Opportunity That's Right For You!
There are a wealth of opportunities out there for those making the jump from the 9 to 5 world to home employment. In fact, you might find yourself a bit confused and overwhelmed by all the different companies who offer independent consultant opportunities.
So, how do you choose the right one? Here are five tips for finding the most profitable and enjoyable opportunity to suit your needs:
*Is the commission generous enough for you to make a living?
While many companies offer a generous commission on sales made, will it be enough to cover your costs of promotion and time? When I began searching for a work at home opportunity, I knew that I had to find something to replace my RN salary. Make sure that the commission is worth the effort you put into your business.
*Do they have an aggressive recruitment program?
Many independent reps' bread and butter is recruitment. With an aggressive recruitment plan, you can begin making residual income by recruiting new reps and letting them do some of the work for you.
* Is your market already oversaturated with reps?
Sometimes, oversaturation can be an issue when you are competing with hundreds of other representatives in your area. I found myself searching for sometime before I found a ground floor opportunity with a company that wasn't already inundated with reps. You may want to go with a newer, promising company in order to gain more business and recruits, there by expanding your profit margin.
*Are the products something you enjoy and would buy yourself?
Most star representatives will tell you that they not only enjoy the products, but get immense pleasure out of telling others about the products. It's difficult to sell a product that doesn't excite you.
* Will the company offer you plenty of support in making your business successful?
Speak with other representatives from the company you are considering and take note of what they have to say about the company's support staff. You'll need help when you first begin and will probably want to sign up through a rep who you feel is both comfortable and knowledgeable.
As with anything, taking on a home consultant position with any company is going to begin as a trial and error effort. Go with the company that feels the most comfortable and beneficial to you and avoid hype. In the end, it will be your enthusiasm about the products and company that makes or breaks you, but when you begin with the right company - half the battle is already won.
Remember to take note of billboards, television and radio commercials that capture your attention and what made them so intriguing. The only limits on how you can market your business are the limits of your imagination.
